Undocutraveling to France!

My time in Italy is over, it was such an amazing adventure, a dream come true.  But it ended and it was time for me to embark at a new and nerve-wrecking journey…France.

We left Rimini at 8:30 am we took the train to Bologna and the BLQ shuttle to the airport.  We purchased the Paris Beauvais airport ticket from Ryaniar, beware with these because although the prices look cheap they are not impressive.  You may carry two small bags on the plane but only one check in bag and it is not free you must purchase them, 30 euros for 20 Kg so if you have multiple heavy bags you are going to spend a lot of money you MUST purchase your check-in bags ONLINE no exceptions, if you do not they will charge you MORE at the aiport.

Friendly reminder: do not carry liquids on your carry-on bags

We left Italy at 2:30 pm and we arrived at 4:00pm at Paris Beauvais, the journey to the center of Paris is very long since the airport is far away (that is why the ticket was cheap).  First you need to buy the shuttle to go to Paris, if you do not you are stuck there forever, purchase them online it is cheapter, 15 euros, if not it is 17 euros : http://www.aeroportbeauvais.com/bus.php

I didn’t get my passport stamped or even noticed by an officer, I was so nervous, for months I deliberated if I should go or not, but I am glad I did because it was very easy and I had no issues at all.

The bus ride was 2 hours and a half which left us at Porte Maillot, from there we crossed the street to the train station (also a mall) and went down the electrical steps to train 1 towards Palais Royal (Musee du Louvre).  The fee is cheap is 1.80 and it does not matter if you need 5 trains to get to your destination, if you don’t leave the subway you don’t have to pay again.  Then we took train 7 to Pierre et Marie Curie and went up the stairs, crossed the street, walked straight, took a right and we were at Trendy Hostel http://www.trendyhostel.com/

The hostel was clean and they provide a very basic breakfast, the bad thing is that it is surrounded by weird restaurants, pubs, and bars that only old men go to so finding dinner was tough.  We found a chicken place right next to the theater and the food is ok and cheap and the staff is friendly.  After dinner we settled into our room, under the bed there is a large box where you can put your clothing, it also has a lock, the beds are very comfortable and it has its own lamp and outlets, in addition it has a curtain for your privacy.  The restroom are spacious and the showers are very good, the hostel is very well kept and comfortable, and it only cost 20 euro a night, we were very satisfied.

Bring an umbrella, that will save your health, also bring a sweater and a jacket, is not sunny and beautiful like in Italy.

If you are nervous about traveling within Europe do not be afraid, they don’t check the passports (at least no to me and my friends), the only time you will get an stamp is if you leave the Schengen Zone and entered the U.

  1. hey there, I am currently in France and want to fly to other neighboring countries. Did you ever fly anywhere outside of Italy? Seems like you always traveled by land. Is that a safer choice?

      2. It is ok to travel to neighboring countries if you are within the schengen zone which is open borders. If you are doing a study abroad program in London and want to visit other places, I suggest to include the names of those countries on your application
